Itek Okile Rice Growers Multipurpose Cooperative Society

We are a member-based organization, formed with the purpose of offering services to members. Itek Okile Growers Multipurpose Cooperative Society was established and registered (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives) in 2001 by 30 rice farmers to handle production activities for its members and was registered in October 29th 2001 with registration no P 6466/CRC. All the members of the cooperative are small-scale rice farmers practicing their farming on the Olweny Irrigation Scheme since its rehabilitation by the Government of Uganda in 1999.  The farmers’ cooperative aimed at concentrating on production and productivity of rice plus other value chains produce in which members of the cooperative are interested. The cooperative operates in the Lango Sub- Region in the district of Lira with its head office in Abolet LCI, Alebere Parish, Itek Sub-County, Abolet Village, Lira City.

Members who are self-reliant with socially resilient families assured of food security from their agricultural enterprises based on environmentally friendly practices.
Mission
To Provide efficient and effective services to our members to produce and supply high quality agricultural and related products through use of recommended farming technologies while building human development in the Society.
Objective
To promote mutual economic interests of its members in accordance with the cooperative principles, and more particularly in Agricultural production, value addition, and marketing.
